Got her going again, it was the fuse for the coil and rev counter (as far as I can tell from the bible). I hard wired the ignition wiring and it still blew a 15amp fuse with everything switched on, heater, lights, wipers. I have now upgraded the fuse rating to 25A. This should be OK, or am I wrong to assume this? Oddly enough it wasn't the yellow connector, but look at the state of it, I'm sure it wasn't helping. Could it be to do with the crystal lights that have just been fitted? I just used the bulbs that came with them.

Bulbs that come with them are only 55w i think, wouldn't have thought that would cause a problem.

Nice pic of the connector yikes

I'm amazed that connector was working at all. The other main difference is that the heater is working now, and it never has before. Maybe it's all just a bit too much for 19 year old wiring

Has any one found a good connector replacement for it?

where is this connector - I think I need to look at it - and see if I can check out an alternative

Halfords sell a 4-way connector in their audio section - that's what I used.

Some people have simply soldered the wires straight together - much better electrically but a pain if you have to remove the steering column (which you won't do often, admittedly)

Take off the lower shroud on the steering column - the connector is between the ignition switch and the rest of the wiring loom, just under the column there.

Mick it connects the ignition switch to the rest of the wiring - best plan is to remove it and directly connect ing switch by soldered joints. Its only function was to help construction
