Hi all,

Having taken the cooling system to pieces I need to replace the coolant. The obvious stuff I can get is from Halfords but has anyone got any better suggestions?

I've just refilled my Griff and did a bit of research before doing it because with new hoses I'm hoping not to have to touch it for a while.
The old water was Blue but in the end that made no difference to my decision.

I was recommended in a round about sort of way VW G12 Plus antifreeze. And when I looked into it, it does look good. It has specific anti corrosion properties for both steel and aluminium and can be mixed with anything else without problem. Try researching VW G11 and VW G12 and you'll see what I mean.

At a VW dealer it's not cheap at £8.19 for 1.5L of the new G12+ PLUS (Yes, + + !) and because I needed 6litres to get a 50/50 mix in the 12litres of coolant the Griff has I had a bit of a dig around and my local motor factors sold me 6L for £14.
They recognised the VW G12+ spec as soon as I mentioned it. (Don't forget the +, its important)

According to the Customer Q&A question about the Skoda which needs G12+ on here it looks like this stuff at Halfords is the right stuff. This is stupidly expensive but it gives you the idea.

As above really. Used it in my Mums Audi last week when I changed the radiator and will be using it in my Cerb.
