climbing a mountain for charity
Discussion
Cna somebody explain to me why flying a bunch of celebs to a mountain in another country for charity is in anyway selfless of them? A freebie flight to climb kilimanwotsit, I bet plenty of folk would give their eye teeth to do that! Its just a goddamn free holiday, especially for fatty moyles, I bet hes still getting paid out of our licence fees whilst his fat sweating ass is struggling up a hill, panting into a camera about how "hard and worthwhile" it all is. Its like those tossers who come round saying "Im going to walk the great wall of china, I just need to raise £2000 to do it" f
k off, you just want a free holiday. Go walk from lands end to john o'groats or something.
Also, isnt it for "comic" relief, admittedly its never been funny but at least it had pretensions of being so with people sitting in baths of beans etc. How can climbing a hill be in any way related to comedy? Surely "sport" relief would have been a better place for this stunt, probably not quite as nice weather for the poor luvs when that swings around though
I really hate these cheap ass charity stunts the bbc keep inventing to fill a few months worth of schedules instead of making some proper prgrammes. Then using emotional blackmail every 2 f
king seconds saying "text 'Im an emotionally retarded 13 year old spending daddies money' to 0845..." Just f
k off charity w
kers or do something properly selfless that doesnt involve a free holiday loads of people would love and pretend its some kind of hardship

I'm amazed that Max Clifford hasn't dragged the Goody Monster up the mountain, death bed and all.
That'd be a superb charity bed-push, you could have fairly fit girly celebs (Girls Aloud?) dressed in short nurses outfits pushing. Sorry

is kilimanjaro even a 'climb'? a couple of mates did it and i was under the impression it was more of a hike.
regardless of my feelings for that fat turd on some of the celebs [but not the tweedy
] , they have raised close on a million quid so far, which i can't fault.
They have raised over £1m between them... they hit that milestone yesterday.regardless of my feelings for that fat turd on some of the celebs [but not the tweedy

Radio 1 alone are hoping to hit the £1m mark today.
I don't think it really matters what you think of him/them - they didnt need to do this and if he was that desperate to get to Africa, i think his large salary would have covered it.

Climbing Kilimanjaro is not easy.
Especially if you're an overweight and/or pampered celeb.
At the end of the day, no matter how annoying the constant badgering for money is, they've raised lots of cash for a good cause.
It is a shame they have to over-emotionalise it though. They had 'messages from family' read out to them live via sat-phone on R1 this morning. FFS...

Fair play to the 'celebs' that have climbed.
What gets on my tits is those stupid f
king
s left in the studio at radio f
king 1 that are going on and on and on and on and on about how well they've done. The selfless
s going on and on about abseiling and assault courses and spending ten minutes explaining the f
king total that's been raised.
Can't that w
ker Vernon Kay just say "right then audience, update, new total is now £1 million, haven't we done well, thank you". No he f
king can't. He goes on and on and I'm going to have a f
king heart attack getting worked up by those f
king self promoting w
kers.
And breath.

In your first post you mention the words "comic relief".
Therefore, it's served it's purpose! Do you think you'd even know about it if Moyles was sitting in a bath of baked beans?
It's an avenue to fund raising. It costs money to do, but it raises even more - and therefore it's a success.
Yes, they do go OTT on the emotion which drives me nuts, but they're doing something incredibly tough to raise awareness.
I'm exceedingly jealous and would love to do it, but that doesn't mean I begrudge them.
Jade Goody gets a place on the London Marathon and trains 4 times and lasts not even half way - an embarassment. These guys have been training for months, been 100% dedicated and given their all.
I'm jealous, but not resentful.
