Who said TVR owners are scared of the wet ?

I loved driving in the rain when I had my Chimaera. On Avon ZZ1s it was fantastic fun.

It is Rockingham - I've done that in an Elise and it's huge fun. The front one has a kick plate to induce oversteer, one next to it is a very low grip surface and to the right is a drift pan.

OP - How did you go about organising a TVR session and was it expensive?

Pretty much the first time the roof has been ON - even in the last 3 months its been off for almost 2k miles.
although I did accidentally leave the windows down for one run here.

Yes it was at Rockingham last weekend, organised by the Subaru owners club (friendly bunch) and advertised on PH. Just 2 TVR's, but also an Aston Martin Vanquish, Ginetta & a few other makes.

Well worth doing to safely learn control techniques for when the front or back end steps out of line (not likely to happen in a TVR ) although I never quite found the balance point on the throttle for drifting the Tuscan but could have happily kept trying all day ......

It's not cheap, but is the only such facility in UK (possibly Europe) and much better doing it in your own car than a Mondeo on trolley wheels like other 'skid-pans'.

It costs £2000 to hire the facility & instructors for the day, but works out quite reasonable between 16-20 people (£100 to £125 each) for a 3.5 hour morning or afternoon session.

i carnt be a real TVR driver ,as my targa panels never come off , (rear windows fall out)at high speeds.

Could start the ball rolling if people are interested in doing a session ? Easy to fill up the numbers by throwing it open to other clubs - Lotus etc.. Suggest a limit of 20 cars to ensure plenty of track time for everyone.

I have been lucky enough to try it at Fiorano in a Ferrari 430. It is amazing how much control the manettino traction control gives, but it is much more fun when it is much more fun when it is switched off. Then it handled just like my Tuscan---well almost!
