I've always been a great advocate of Mobil 1 however I've just been round to my local motor factors and bought 5 litres fully synthetic 10/40 branded as "ultra" but made by tetrosyl (of hammerite fame ??) for the bargin price £9.60 !!!!!!! This is intended to go in "normal" car but dare I swop over from Mobil to it for the play thing ??????

Mel,
I'd keep using Mobil one in the play thing its the best so why risk your pride and joy with anything else. My philosophy is that most people don't mind paying 40 quid for petrol which may last several hundred miles but don't like spending 40 quid on oil which should last several thousand miles!

there is a lot of bollox spouted about Mobil 1, I won't bore you with my findings but rather suggest you do a search for oil topics in the griff or chimera sections

Mel I do sh*t loads of miles and I tend to run my cars till they die. I have been using Mobil 1 since Castrol Syntron X was taken off the market. Prior to synthetics I was rebuilding engines every 100k, but now the bodies get shot long before the engine expires. It is my belief that cheap oil is the most expensive. I have through work also spent a bit of time with the Castrol guys at Stanlow and the only oil they have any respect for outside of their own is Mobil 1
