I've suggested it before, and discussd it at last VW, but how about a great summer picnic (bring yer own butties Mungo -then you won't have to walk!!) at the Runymede leasure grounds on the A308 between Runymede Hotel, Egham (J13, M25)and Old Windsor?

Ticket parking on level grass, no restriction on arriving and leaving, space for 350 cars, nearby takeaway, river trips, paddling pool, bouncy castle and mini-fairground, caff 1 mile up river, Runymede Hotel Restaurant 1m down river, walks (that word again...)to the Magna Carta and Kennedy Memorial or up the hill to the Air Force Memorial (views of five counties on a good day.) No bbq's or fires though....

Bonus is I can roll the car from my house, engine or no engine

Sounds like a good idea. Trouble will be finding a date without it clashing with anything. When did you have in mind.

Hah, usual prob Wiz!

Not Le Mans week, not Goodwood Festival, not Pistonfest weekend, not August Bank Hol (National Porsche Event) or August (MY hol!), so it whittles it down a bit. Some people are bound to be disappointed, tis a shame, but that's life

So, June or July then!

Count me in for that Melv, better not forget my earplugs if you are bringing the porker cup.

I would just plump for a date which looks okay and start talking it up, venues a good un so should get the car park filled no problem.

I dont think that the National Trust would appreciate one of your standing burnouts though ! perhaps you had better walk there.

Are you going to the Ace on Tuesday ?

Agree with August - I'm off to California for the Concrso Italiano, Monterey Historic races and the Pebble Beach Concours.featured marque at is ferrari Did this a couple of years ago - highly recommend it some truly superb (and very rare)cars.

Goodwood is last weekend in June .... aside from that oh and the first weekend in July everything seems to be free at present!

Fantastic! We went in '98, 50 Years of Porsche celebration. My poor little head was spinning at times, not knowing which way to look!

We went for the 50th Anniversary of the Pebble Beach Concours... Maserati were the featured marque at Laguna and the Concorso was out of the word. Can't wait ......

June, July and August are big car event months. (LM, GFoS, Thorney Island, Le Mans Endurance Series Silverstone, FIA GT etc)

How about May instead so we all get to meet other PHers before these other events?

Thought about this Dusty, and I agree to an extent, but it's supposed to be a SUMMER picnic.

Rose coloured spectacles see loads of lovely metal and picnics and gentle conversation, children (Mungo and Domster) paddling in the pool and playing on the bouncy castle.......the occassional squeal of tortured rubber as someone goes off towards the M25 or Old Windsor for a quick blast, the smell of sun tan cream, river trips on the 'Lucy Fisher'.........

I can dream......

I go for June or July around the events....

Sounds good to me is a nice place there by the river would be even nicer if it were filled with nice cars!

What car do you drive - may have spotted you about?
