After putting my 1.8T A3 (8L) into service last week I've been told the front wishbone bushes are split and need changing and also the rear axle bushes are worn. They want £184.42 all in for the front bushes and £212.68 all in for the rears.
Does that sound fair?, the quote has the parts priced on them and the labour for the front is £142.50 and the rear coming in at the same for the labour. The parts are cheap as chips, but I'm guessing its a bit of a pig to change them on the drive.
Anyone had any experience of changing them?.
I'm taking the opportunity to get some H&R shorter shocks and springs on it as well as some H&R stiffer ARB's on there to try and stiffen things up a bit as its a bit rolly through the twisties
Might as well give them those to stick on at the same time.
Oh, and the cambelts due.... they're after £400 for that and the waterpump
Is that a bit steep or the going rate?

That's not bad price for the bushes (front and rear), had to replace rear axle bushes on Misses GTi which cost £270 from an independant. Are you prices from a stealership?
No, they're prices from a VAG indy called Autovolks in Solihull. I think I'll give them the job as they certainly know what they're on about and dont want silly money. Not bad at all. Good idea to give it to someone who knows VAG's especially when upgrading as you propose, hope you enjoy the trasformation.
Must say don't mind spending out for things that improve handling/power etc as it soon transpires to be money well spent, as opposed to cambelts and waterpumps!

Yeah, the guy that runs it used to be in charge of a VW dealership workshop, set up on his own and poached all the staff, or so rumour says anyway Must say don't mind spending out for things that improve handling/power etc as it soon transpires to be money well spent, as opposed to cambelts and waterpumps!
. I'm happy letting them near my car and I'm a fussy bugger at the best of times. I'm all for making it go round corners better too, however it wont be going around any corners with smashed up valves so the belt and pumps a must (even if its going to cost the same as the shocks and springs).

Let us know how you get on, it's always good to have a review of an indy.
Well I put my car in there for a major service last week and it was £165.00 all in (Audi wanted over £300!!!). Done quickly, all work thats needed was quoted and written up for when I collected it. Cant fault them at all to be fair.
They're located in Solihull, right behind the VW stealership on the Stratford Road opposite Tesco's. Its only a small place but they've been in business for years, cant fault them at all.
