pakistan is now a no-go country, a 5th of it is controlled by the Taliban and international cricket teams are being blasted out of their tour buses! The governmant can't control the Taliban that have crossed the border from Afganistan so it's now time to put pakistan on the list of countries you really don't want to visit! frown

It was actually already on my list, not because it's staggering beauty, but because of the backwards religion.

So is it at all possible that pakistan will eventually become run by the Taliban? It would prove to be a very interesting and worrying situation, especially for the UK with such a large pakistani population.

It is a shame, enjoyed my time going from Islamabad up the Karakorum highway.

I can't see that happening again any time soon.

Given that a few rioting English soccer thugs got the country banned from european competition, when will we send a message to countries like pakistan?

As a keen cricket follower, I've had great times with opposition fans - with the very specific exception of pakistan supporters - you know the ones with a brummy accent that don't support the English team....

Would we even miss pakistan if it fell off the earth tomorrow?

I was offered some work there last year with the security services. No amount of persuasion of Mrs B&B would convince her I wasn't going to be kidnapped and beheaded. To be frank even I wasn't convinced by my argument that as a guest of the security services I would be well protected!

It's worse than Iraq was, except without anything like enough oil to arrange a proper 'get rid of the terrorists' excursion.

Considering they're a nuclear power, I imagine the powers that be are keeping a close eye on it, though.

I have just returned from pakistan- my first visit in 16 years. I dont speak any of the languages, and stand out as a Westerner- although I am asian.

I had no problems- just a shame a few groups ruin the place.

I think this will be a turning point in pakistani history.

Of all the things to screw up, the terrorists have chosen cricket!

The national sport FFS!!

The people won't be happy.....not happy at all.....cricket is a religion itself on the sub-continent and I suspect the Islamists to have stepped over that line. They are now at the point where their actions become against the public will.

I suspect they have gone too far this time!

One can only hope I guess....
