Can anyone point me to a site with images or illustrations of submarine propulsion systems, please?

They are effectively a ducted fan, like this:

I don't think you will find many images of them as the exact designs are generally kept secret. The only pictures I have seen of submarines fitted with them have them covered up.

This picture is from the roll out of an astute class submarine:

I presume close design q's from jetengines but runing much lower rev's and with noise reduction. diesesel/nuke electical. fascinating subject tho. I will bring it up at work as a good discussion.

It makes your submarine a little slower, but bloody hell is it quiet.

The submarines I served on which had propulsors fited reguarly used to hand certain other superpowers boats, despite being newer, their arses when playing games with them hehe

Yes similar to that above I have seen a vanguard out the water. They are kept secret to stop nasty’s working out the frequency ect that the produce when running in the water ie making it easy to find them as the are designed for stelth not speed.

You'll be able to find photos of the Typhoon sub propellors as they're decomissioning and scrapping them.
