Could one of you clever chaps please advise which I should go for, in simple terms as I am just a girlie who doesn't understand much about electrickery? wink

Just standard Acumate should do the job. When you get it fitted......a tip.......open boot, plug acumate into socket and switch on....then CRITICALLY close catch to boot...ie ensure boot light goes out and rest boot on closed catch if you follow....otherwise all the power destined for the battery goes into keeping your boot light on!!

Enjoy!!

Hi Liz wavey

Standard Accumate is the jobbie. IIRC the Optimate was designed for motorbikes. Now I know you're missing a couple of cylinders wink but not enough to need the Optimate hehe

Accumate is indeed designed for cars with larger batteries.
It has a higher charge rate for this reason.

Having said that, I use my bike Optimate on my Cerbera and it works OK.

I plug it into the cigar lighter, and because of the lower max charge rate it cannot cause wiring over heating problems.

Accumate but don't forget the Cigar connector and Anderson Lead are not included in the box and bought separate.

I've just bought a CTek Zafir 90 from Costco, for the princely sum of £35.00.

I don't know how good it is as it's still in the box, but it does seem to tick all the boxes.

Thought it may be useful for someone. smile

Thanks guys, Accumate + cigar socket adapter ordered.

Now has anyone got a small child I could borrow for half an hour to manouvre between the car and the garage wall to plug my Anderson connector in?

If you're prepared to extend the half hour to 10 and 14 years (until fee earing age) then I have a couple for you Liz hehe

I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the CTek, does it have everything i'd need with it? Should make use of the Costco card for more than pies!

Thanks for all the info guys, Raj managed to get the Anderson Connector in, plug it into the jump start pack, alarm went crazy, got the windows down and the Accumate is now plugged in doing it's job.

So I'm afraid I will have to decline your kind offer Nick hehe

This says it monitors voltage until it drops to 12 volts!

NOT GOOD me thinks! Below 12.4 volts the battery can be damaged.

Accumate is a much more intelligent process. IMHO.

I bought a CTEK XS 800 towards the end of last year for the S and it has been very good; it has 5 year warranty as well I think. It comes with the standard croc clips and also some with terminals with holes in that you can fix to the battery; the output lead from the charger has a plug on the end that plugs into the 2 alternate battery connector leads - the one fixed to the battery has a cap on the end connector to close it when not in use (not sure if it'd be waterproof but probably fine under the bonnet). I disconnected it from the battery once without unplugging it and the red light came on but no damage as it is quite well protected. You can get the ciggy lighter adaptor for them as well.

I've got both, one for the car and one for the biks and just use whichever is closest and have had no problems so far.
