There was a thread on this guy a couple of years ago (when he was just 17), with many arguing that he was just a Photoshop-guru, and not a proper photographer (I was partially in this camp).

If you needed anything to change your mind, and to really give some inspiration, see:

Some lovely images there. But...some of the OOF areas hint at postprocess blurring rather than being "natural" DoF. Which jars a little bit.

But then, I'm probably just jealous tongue out

I honestly don't think so. He's using an 80mm f2.8 wide open on a medium format 'back (so approx 50mm in 35mm terms), and DoF is even more shallow the larger the format.

I achieved some really weird DoF with my Hassie - stuff I can't replicate even with an f1.2 lens on my 35mm camera:

To be honest, I hadn't clocked the equipment at the time I wrote that. And as I'm utterly unfamiliar with using that kind of gear, I take it all back smile

I find the colour images are spoiled by the obvious use of very cold flash light, I guess this is the effect he was looking for because they are all like that, but to me the flash lighting spoils the images because it's so 'in your face' . . .
