Stupid bird...
Discussion
This young chaffinch flew into my window today and dazed itself so badly i managed to get up close and get a few pics of him.

He was so stunned that he didn't move for about half an hour, and i was worried about him becomming cat food, so I got a box to put him in, so i could re locate him to some higher ground out of reach and sight of a cat.
So, i place the box down, and he just jumps onto it and looks at me...

I gave him a stroke to see if he responded...

He seemed fine. He just kept sitting there for a while.

Then eventually he flew away to a bush where he rested for another half hour.

The last few pictures aren't great. They're just to show the happy ending ha-ha.

Nice detail in the first couple of pics
. I always remember as a kid, when a sparrow flew into our window, same circumstances as your story. We found a box, lined it in ripped up newspaper, dug up worms for it, and looked after it all day. When it seemed strong enough we released it back into the garden, and our cat pounced on it and brought it back to us. So we ended up burying it in the garden. I'm scarred for life I tell ya (true story too, apart from the scarred for life bit).

We have a real problem in May and June when the sea reflects very brightly in our windows. We have to resort to bead curtains on the outside to stop the buggers. Before we did that we were getting about 10 bird strikes a day. (You can see the reflection here, and why they get confused).

Thats the problem.
They think they are flying through some trees to a lake in that reflection.
You are best off just putting up a quick breeze block wall to cut that reflection out, so it looks like they are flying into a wall...

Parents put a couple of stick on butterflies on their patio windows and haven't had anywhere near as many bird strikes since. They did get a sparrowhawk though - most strikes on the window leave a nice inprint of a bird going 'f
