VW Sharan Diesel
Discussion
I've had a Alhambra for over 2 years which are essentially the same car.
It has been very reliable only needing some drop links replaced on the front in additional to the normal stuff.
Handles quite well for a big car, engine quite poky (130) but not as refined as more modern units (TDCi, CDTi etc.).
My £11k ish would go on an S max or spend a bit more and get the new Galaxy if you need 7 proper seats.
Dealers should be fighting for your custom just a pity the VW dealers I've been involved with have been so hopeless.

We have a Galaxy (basically the same car) mechanically it has been great with no unexpected problems but lots of niggling electrical problems - remote locking, cruise control, electric windows, speedo/instrument panel, A/C control, stereo (the electrics are the same on all versions of Galaxy/Sharan/Alhambra).
Drives well for a big, high vehicle, ours is petrol but the diesels give good (40+) mpg.
