Anyone know anything about these engines from the BMW 750 and 850 range or can point me to sources of info....

I am investigating the posibilty of using one of these engines in my next project with a pair of turbo's strapped on.

My main interest is in the internals and how strong they are and if upgrades are available but any general info would be apreciated.

In the mid nineties I think Willie Koenig (german tuner) was supercharging these babies upto 550bhp+ in customised 850i BMWs. A mate of mines father had one at the time.

I know DINAN (US I think) do twin turbo kits.....

With std CR the 750 5.0L one does just short of 500bhp and 540lbft torque, but don't know if they mod the internals, I suspect not as they probaly would have lowered the cr and upped the 10psi boost a bit.

They also did 850csi twin turbo to 666bhp and over 700ld'ft..... which would be nice.

But are the std internals up to the job?

The 850csi has a 5.6 litre engine as opposed to the 5.0 litre of the standard 750i and 850i.

I've also found out that the 5.6L 850Csi must have internal mods to have twin turbo's as it is as standard nearly 10:1cr, as is the 5.4L one..... but the 5.0L one is only 8.8:1cr.

Not even sure if the 5.6L crank is interchangable with the 5.0L as they have different engine denotions (different block?).

Would be nice if I could just bolt on a pair of turbo's and map it in (wont use the BMW loom though).... I just know it wont be that simple and there has to be a weak point.
