I've been trying to install the f**king thing for the last 4 hours. Apparently if you manage to actually get it to work, it's bug ridden and crashes frequently. It's a Steam game, with all the bullsh!t that goes with it.

I've so far wasted (luckily only) £24 and 4 hours of my life. I'm trying now for the third and final time before I consign it to the bin.

no problems here been sat on it for 4 hours with no bugs at all, did take an hour or so to update through steam due to a really low connection speed.

Are there seriously updates for a brand new game?! This was on my most wanted list, but I'm a bit fed up of WoW updates so don't expect a game on a disc to not play out of the box!

tell you what steam is crap i've been trying to upload empire total war demo for 2hours and its barely 25% through it

I gave in. It will not install on my system at all. Download speeds from Steam for the required patch are 7k a second, it got to 42% then crapped out and re-started. Any enthusiasm I had for playing the game has now gone. I can't even sell the thing on because of Steam as it's now registered to me. So into a drawer it goes. f**king marvelous.

I had some troubles installing it and there was a fair bit of swearing going on (Why the fk can't I just play the game I've paid for. and why do I need Steam AND Windows Live???????????)

Eventually, I got a decent connection and the update took 10 mins. I opted to not bother with Live at this time, which will apparently prevent online gaming. I'll probably sort that before going too much further on the game.

I guess that the slow update is just because everyone is trying to do the same on launch day (who'd have figured that, huh???)

I've played the first half dozen missions and it looks good. I've had no glitches and for the previous poster, the only glitch I've ever had with a Steam game was Half Life 2 - on release day.

LOL the last Steam game I had was HL2... Swore that I'd never knowingly buy another. Sadly I pre-ordered DoW2. Shan't be buying another Relic/THQ title if this is the way it's going. The point at which copy protection prevents a legitimate buyer from playing the game is the point they've gone too far. I've had nothing but bad experiences with Steam.

In the meantime (8 years?) Steam has got a lot better developed. I've activated games on Steam, as well as bought them online.

You've missed out on excellent games like Quake Wars and Left for Dead.

Haven't had a PC for about 8 years I went to consoles. Just sold the Xbox360 and bought a toasty PC to play Warhammer online. I'm not a big gamer by any means but I've always had a soft spot for Warhammer stuff.

oh guys I got the steel box edition from game, anyone else get this one? If so have you noticed the lack of extras you are supose to have? Or am I missing something...
