Pet feeders

Going away for 3 nights and as opposed to asking the neighbour want to try one out. The reviews on Argooose suggest that their pets crack it and gobbly the lot.

Anyone use one/recommend one?

Can't you just feed it three times as much on the day before you leave?

Usually ask my neighbour for when we have been away for 1 or 2 weeks in the past, but as it was for 3 nights thought maybe a pet feeder would suffice

Yes, but there is more to getting someone else to feed the cat than just feeding it ... I know our cat appreciates a fuss at least once a day, and the friend who does the necessary when we are away is very happy to talk to her and stroke her for a good few minutes.

There is also the making-sure-the-cat-is-OK element, as well as checking the house hasn't been burgled/nothing is leaking/etc.

A pet feeding machine wouldn't do all this.

Oh there digs are the garage anyhow do not have a cat flap into the house.

We've got this one http://www.pet-mate.com/Cat_Mate/Feeders/Petfeeder... . Used to use it for the cats breakfast ( stops him waking us up at 6am ) but invariably he'd broken in before that.

These days if we're going away just leave huge amounts of food = one happy cat. Though the amounts of turd in the litter tray afterwards are immense.
