The programme on CO-19 and Racism
Discussion
Did anyone watch the programme on Co-19 (The met firearms team) last night?
It was a fascinating programme, but what shocked me was the stats they listed. 70% of the people they stopped for suspected firearms offences were black, and 50% of the shootings were against black people. This is against a backdrop of an 11% black population in London.
What an impossible position the police are put in within London with respects to claims of institutional racism, and racist stop and search tactics. Especially given the statistics.

59% of rape suspects also fit a certain demographic. the stats were released a few years ago by a cheif of police but you try finding them now!
break that down.
small percentage to start with
on the whole women do not commit this crime
neither do children
not really an old mans crime either
so a small percentage of a small percentage are suspects in 59% of one rather nasty crime.
just talking about this means we are racist by default This thread will probably be deleted

Important word being suspects, I wonder how good the clear up rate is for said crime
I believe it's fairly low. You could say that they aren't suspicious of the 'right' people in the first place, non?

digger calm down.
Sorry if I missunderstood your post.
what did you mean about not looking for the right suspects in the first place? not sure how else to understand what your point is in the context of what I wrote.
ps look above. I asked a question and put a question mark. there are better ways to explain yourself than go on the attack and name call. if thats not what you meant then just say so.
I asked I did not make a staement or make anything up as fact. just trying to work out what you were on about.

My point was simply to outline that for some reason my implication that as there is a small clear up rate that the suspects may not be 'correct', to a generalisation alluding to the integrity of the witness.
Feel free to explain how you went from one to the other - I simply see no connection (hence crack references etc)
