How do I check a cars warranty/history through BMW?

If buying a car privately, how do I confirm the car's service history (apart from calling the places where the work has been done)?

I am assuming this can be done through BMW as the car is still under their manufacturer's warranty so they'll know it's history and simultaneously confirming the warranty is valid?

Can anyone point me in the right direction or has done this recently?
