that is rather inexpensive,

"some history" would probably scare me off a bit though...

"Last owner had the car 9 years"

It's a 2000 car. So 1 owner? A Tuscan owner for 9 years must be a PHer?

I bought a "cheap" Chimaera. In the long term I'm sure its cost me a lot more then if I bought a better car. When I bought the Tuscan, I purchased the best I could find with a fresh engine rebuild from Str8Six and a new clutch. The engine hadn't even been run in.

Unless you're capable of doing the work yourself its probably the best way to do it.

Odd thing Is I've been thinking of selling my 2000 Tuscan, slightly higher miles but with a rebuild, and full history and tons of receipts etc, for pretty much the same money.

So. Cost around 40K new. In 9 years has depreciated to £9K. Less than £3.5K per year depreciation. Still worth 25% (ish) of it's value.

Absolute bargain for the owner I'd say. Lesser cars would now be worth peanuts.

It looks like a fair price to me. Given the fact that they are now irreplaceable modern classics...

Could be damn expensive to maintain, mind, so I'd get it inspected by a specialist. Owner shouldn't mind provided the potential purchaser pays the expenses.

Plus two engine rebuilds, a couple of clutches, enough electrical problems to be banned from the RAC....hehe

hehe Well quite possibly. You'd want to know it was "sorted". But someone willing to stick with a TVR for 9 years probably has actually got it fixed up and reliable. Our Chimaera was dreadful when we first got it. The warranty company must have been deeply cheesed off - we bought three years in advance! But we slogged away and eventually it got reliable. Its last service cost £128!

sure i have seen that before - and IIRC it was an insurance write off?? Maybe it was engine damage...whatever, the car doesnt have an impeccable history so far as i can remember

Odd think to say, but not everyone is aware there is/was an engine issue.

Tuscan for £9k?

Assume engine rebuild needed in next year £6k (but might not be)

If paint and interior is passable be worth a punt. Would need to know what your getting yourself into though - might need a lot of love!

1 year ago the cheapest Tuscans on the market were £11.5k

Has this one been written off? Would definatley affect things...

Plus another £1000 to get rid of those ghastly 16" wheels and get a the 18" spiders on there.

A Tuscan with 'some history'

Have you got very deep pockets?

They usually turn into absolute dogs if they're not maintained properly - I'd spend the extra cash and buy something decent, it will save you in the long run!

The pictures do look good. Look nearer at the passenger side indicator, that white mark is where the paint has peeled off and there are several other suspect areas including a rear screen with gaps to let the rain in. So a full respray then at 2.5k min and new seals at £ ? its not so cheap anymore!
