CDL Sell Up

T400R up for sale is the bad news, but there's good news around the corner

CDL Racing who ran the white T400R in this year's British GT championship are selling the car, awning spares and everything needed to run the team.

They've binned their plans to race the T400R in the Bathurst 24 hours and won't be racing it in the 2004 British GTs either.

Sad news perhaps, but team boss Bert Taylor has promised us an update in ten days time regarding CDL's plans for 2004.

Bert's had hankerings to take part in FIA GT for some time now so we wouldn't be surprised if that's what's in store. Are we to see a T350R racing on the continent next year?

So if you want a T400R to go racing next year, get on the blower to Bert at www.cdlracing.com

We look forward to hearing CDL's plans for the future.

So exit the Series (after 1 average year) and give it a good kicking in Autosport on the way out. Bravo.

My mum (GRHS) always taught me not to $hit on people on the way up as they'll only get their own back on you on the way back down......

Who said CDL were leaving the series? See their website - GT news dated October 4th.

Yes , but as you said that was dated the 4th October, todays the 31st and I think Ted didn't rule out them being there in another car, possibly a T350R .

Hmm, yes I thought the comments in Autosport were a tad unnecessary, too. It seems rather strange that their plans have changed so dramatically and so quickly. There's also a long time to go until the start of next season, which would give plenty of opportunity to find some cash over the Winter.

It's a shame they're not carrying on, but I do hope the car is back out next year.

Where will they go? Just a totally groundless hunch, but could it be SCV8? I can't see any kind of International campaign in the offing with a T350, but I could be completely wrong, of course.

I read somewhere, can't remember if it was Autosport or DSC, that they might continue to run the car for whoever buys it. They couldn't enter a T350C in FIA GT becuase its a GT Cup car, not GTO. And I wouldn't think its homologated for FIA GT, same as the T400R isn't

Don't they say you should'nt always believe what you read in the papers, and yes we will be leaving the British GT with the current set up, but articals I've read, it does'nt say we won't be returning in fact if we sell the car to the people we are talking to we could still be runing it,so it's as per the artical on our web site,
The only people who have been $hit on are TVR and the team who have bought a car with there own money on the way up and raced to avarage season but at least its to the rules with out any outside help,But what I can tell you,and all our supporters we will be racing in 2004 and as Ted said with in a couple of weeks all will be revieled.

Go Bert....and I hope what we were discussing all comes into play for you and the CDL team.

We are always made so welcome by CDL at the track...Mid Essex would not like to see our favourite team anywhere else but with TVR.

Good luck for your plans for 2004 and I hope it all pans out.

Jamie

I feel gutted for you not to have had the opportunity to see the CDL T400R racing at Bathurst, with the regular drivers Joined by Carl Hansen.

But the team I'm sure has good reason, I have had the good fortune to attend the British GT's this year, watching the torrid season CDL have been through, despite all the bad luck they have always made everybody that came to see them welcome.

But I'm sure the Bathurst 24hr will have a good attendance and some spectacular racing in its 2nd year, enjoy the race and maybe let us have a report on how it goe's.

I met up with Carl Hansen at the weekend during a race meeting at Pukekohe here in Auckland. A thoroughly nice guy and his Tuscan is beautifully prepared. He gave me a bit of background on the whole Bathurst/CDL situation and whilst I'm still very disapointed to not be able to cheer on a TVR I do at least understand some of the reasons behind it.

Unfortunately, Carl's car suffered from a loose crank angle sensor (fitted by the man himself!) and didn't manage to finish the Super GT race. He'll be racing back at Pukekohe in three weeks time so hopefully I'll get along there and take some pictures of his car etc.

I'm glad you had the chance to talk with Carl, he is a top bloke. I'm jealous I would love to see Carl racing his tuscan, and I would like to have the oportunity to see the car, it sounds awesome.

If you get a chance to see Carl again, I would be grateful for some pictures of his car.

Jamie sorry its took a while but I would like to take this oppertunity to appoligise to you and all our supporters for not going to OZ, but the team can only do what the drivers want, and something as come along and we intend to take full advatage of that if it should become possible.

I can tell you it as big a disapointment to me, as you Carl,Steve,Gareth but on a brighter note I am Glad you met up with Carl at the weekend, bad news he broke down, and your right he's cars mega,

Best Of luck

Bert.
