Just read this on Autosport too. Sad end to the season.

Autosport said:

Sportscar stalwart Steve O'Rourke has died at the age of 63. The EMKA team owner and former Pink Floyd manager passed away due to the heart problems that forced him to give up racing earlier this season.

His long career as a driver began in 1961 with a Mini Cooper, and he was involved in sportscars as an entrant and driver from 1979. He last drove with Robin Liddell in a Porsche 996 in 2002. He competed at Le Mans several times and famously built the Aston Martin-powered EMKA Group C car of the mid-80's.

O'Rourke was forced to limit himself to a management role this year, so Tim Sugden drove his Porsche with Emmanuel Collard and Martin Short. The car won its class at Enna and Anderstorp.

The team previously campaigned the McLaren F1 in the British and Global Endurance GT Championships, with O'Rourke finishing fourth at Le Mans in 1998.

Saw it on Thursday on DSC. Very sad news, a great competitor and ambassador for sportscar racing.
