Boardman, cycle to work & halfords
Discussion
new toy!
bought for training so that i go faster on the mtb. Also couldn't resist with the CTW scheme
The bike:
complete bargain! full carbon frame, sram rival kit. my first road bike. light, and fast. kit seems ok too, but not 100% sure about the double tap shifters.
a friend with a fancy ti bike commented on how stiff and fast it was, proper mini race for £1k (not that i have any intention of doing any)
Halfords:
first one was crap, went in they had 3 medium bikes and wouldn't build a large for me to try.
2nd was much better, knowledgeable chap, sorted a ride out for me and followed on his santa cruise DH bike. i phoned the next day (Sunday) to say i'd made up my mind and take it, by 1pm he'd built a new bike so that i didn't have to have the one off the shop floor, and sorted me out some very good deals for my £200 of free 'accessories'.
well Halfords... or at least that young chap
Edit - to add pictures of the clean bike after abuse below
... at least i'm riding it rather than looking at it in my living room

did you get it from the weston super mare store? i bought my 08 road team from there and the guys were good as gold. a real asset to halfords, shame about teh reputation as there are clearly some good guys in the ranks. the boardman bikes are so well priced for the spec and they ride very well...bought for training so that i go faster on the mtb. Also couldn't resist with the CTW scheme

thats really nice. its amazing how the boardman range is such value and they always seemt to get great reviews. makes you wonder how some of the premium brands charge so much.
brand name, people will pay more for a lesser specced bike because it says "specialized" on the frame...That is nice - I'm jealous, I fancy one of those. Mind you, I do have the 08 Boardman Road Comp, so I'm not really being deprived! My first road bike, and SOOO much quicker than a mountain bike on the road.
You've got it dirty though!
Get it cleaned, quick - You can'thang a piece of art on your wall with muddy water all over it!

Agree, that dirt is an absolute scandal. It's not a second rate MTB you know. Nice road bikes just shouldn't have mud on, unless you've just finished Paris-Roubaix, and even then it must be washed it off again pronto.Get it cleaned asap please, there are certain standards you know
