well, that's only attainable by the true big boys...Out of those....I'd say the V8
Though both are bettered by a V6 with a Supersprint exhaust (I am biased though )

I once stood behind a supercharged big block camaro running twin four barrels and a straight exhaust.
It was quiet, until the man behind the wheel hit the starter; with a click and a whine the full fury of hell smashed through the gates of the damned and was present upon earth. Lesser mortals ran for cover, some were crying. I stood firm as the sonic assault battered past each of my ear drums and tore straight into my soul. Every nerve ending lit up with an electric tingle, and I watched in awe as opaque plumes of oil smoke and searing tongues of flame belched from the twin exhaust pipes. The engine died. The spell was broken. The magic remained, however, a simple contact on the starter solenoid would re-awaken it.
So my description is flowery. The V8 most certainly isn't. It is cheap iron for the people, and that's why I love it. 40 years ago V8 power spun the wheels of commerce and family life. Millions of Americans went to work each morning on the magic carpet of torque provided by countless MOPARs and Clevelands.
From rags to Royalty the V8 was good enough for everybody, and out of the reach of nobody. Politicians rage about power to the people. It exists, has eight cylinders and a big carb.
In comparison the Porsche sounds like a cockroach farting.

V16 BRM.
Yes, that was summat else... or, am I thinking of the H-16 ? Flat six or V8 .... neither ..so didn't vote. To my ears a straight six on sound alone wins hands down.
At Mallory park paddock in the mid 1960s, I made the mistake of standing directly behind Mike Hailwood's 300 Honda Six (in-line) when his works mechanic started it up and blipped it up to about around 20,000 rpm or whatever ~ what a fabulous sound... I could not stay there long, the frequency of the resulting vibrations from those six exhaust megaphones vibrated the bones in my rib cage at a different frequency to the flesh on them... I had to move away though or I think my chest would have seperated...... fantastic sound though.
Rather drive a V8 though .... or, ride one even ... 500cc V8 Grand Prix Moto Guzzi anyone...?
..
