I'm thinking of purchasing a B7 RS4. What are the must have options?
Are there any problems to watch out for?
What price is the extended warranties on these?
Anyone had any purchasing experience lately? Does anyone know of any dealers discounting with no part-ex?

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to answer.

Must haves are:
tech pack which includes cornering lights, satnav and 6 cd changer.

Some people like the Sports suspension+ but I wasn't a big fan as the ride went to pot.
There aren't really a huge amount of more options.
Problems are the Ride control system and weird little niggles like a leaky boot lid.
Anyway the best place to look for all this info is actually RS246.com. It's a great site for all things RS.

Good luck, you'll love the car if you get one.

Sprint, Phantom & Daytona = good

Misano, Avus, Silver = less good

Sprint and misano are the more lairy colours imo.

Sticking to phantom black, daytona grey or avus silver are the "safe" ones.

Tech pack is probably the only main option you wouldnt want to miss. maybe smaller things like remote boot release, bluetooth prep and rain-sensor lights are nice to haves but not essential.

You definitely need the flat-bottom steering wheel (it is standard but one of the telephone pack options would have meant it got replaced with the standard "S" wheel). Also try out the buckets properly before you buy. Although they look very nice and give you plenty of support (especially hooning it around a track if thats your thing), they can be uncomfortable for longer distance drives, they're fiddly to get in and out of and you can wear out the side bolster leather quickly - especially if your a bit "podgy". And they take a bit more rear leg room.

I've been offered a sprint blue 56 plate with 17,000 miles for £29k, it's got the flat bottom steering wheel and 1/2 leather buckets but no tecnology pack.
It's from a main dealer but the car is origonally from Ireland so they offer 12 months Audi used car warranty then after that no Audi warranty it's an Inchscape warranty or something like that with the car not being UK registered, thats if you wish to extend the warranty.
Any thoughts on that?

Moody import.

No right to the Audi warranty? I'd want 5k off at least.

These cars are VERY expesnive when they break.

Google "Inchcape financial report" and read a few of the articles, then make your own mind up as to how much value you attach to an "Inchcape Warranty"

Phantom, Daytona and Ibis - dark leather. Mag ride, B&O, DVD Nav essential. More options = better.

R-Tronic a bugger to shift.

Same as for RS4s and 6s really - both Avus and Light metallic look a bit dated and uninteresting.

R8 just gone took ages to get rid of (previous phantom and Daytona flew out) and the first, last and only Avus RS4 (new model) we ended up trading out of due to lack of interest.

It must have a flat bottom steering wheel, all the rest are just personal preference! It's really that simple, I spent ages choosing the spec on mine, my car was rare which was a bonus at sale time however no matter how well spec'ed mine was if it had the "multifunction steering wheel" it would have been alot harder to sell.Fact.

The debate on buckets or recaros is the source for many arguments, sports suspension plus is alot firmer but looks nice, centre arm rest was a no cost option but popular, optic packs are also popular as you cannot completely retro fit them, most cars had sat nav Audi would supply sat nav at only £500 on a RS4, I had a sunroof which was a nice option, titanium wheels are extremely rare on UK cars as a factory option as they were not in the sales brochure although they only cost me about £100 as an upgrade, if a car has an I pod function it won't have a multichanger, if it has Bluetooth it will have a nasty bracket bolted on the dashboard, the finish on the dash known as the "inlays" was a no cost option carbon fibre was standard but I had piano black in mine, only the avants could have privicy glass and this from the b post back, any saloon that has privicy glass will not be factory fitted, any avant with the front windows tinted also not be factory fitted, Bose audio was standard, air con glovebox was standard, tech pack featured nav, auto lights and auto dimming rear view mirror but that cost £2k were as nav was only £500 so I took that route, all cars had xenons, electric boot closure was an option, hope this helps check my profile for my avant.
