Hello Everyone,

Had a cracking blast out in the S today.
Unfortunately got a nasty stone chip to the windscreen.

Has anyone had a new screen put in/or knowes where this can be done.

Best Regards
Andrew

I have had several new windscreens over the years, and have never had an issue with RAC windscreens fitting the replacements, though I guess it depends on the individual depot and fitter.

Part number (for V8S) is 1100LCC.

We keep the Pilkington (Triplex) ones in stock and have done quite a few over the years. Happy to help if you wish.

A big thumbs up from me for 530dTPhils outfit. They did my S3 windscreen for me a couple of years ago. Even sent one of the more experienced fitters to my local branch to ensure a good job.

It's bonded and will take all day, also make sure they are aware of the trim inside the A pillars which is easily damaged while cutting the old one out. Are the screens still available? I thought they were like hen's teeth these days.

Thanks Guys,

Going to give the insurance company a ring.See what they say.

Will try and use 530dtPhils guys as I see you have got a Leicester branch just up the road from me.
I like the sound of Instock.
Will get back to you tommorrow.

Cheers Andrew

How big is the chip - it is a star type crack or a full on 'thats had it mate' chip?

Chips if not massive can be repaired by windscreen companies by injecting resin into the crack.
Some insurance companies will pay for this as it stops them shelling out for a full screen.

I agree with you that it is an all day job.

I have never had an issues with availability - usual wait time 24 - 48 hours. Do they perhaps also fit something else ?

The chip itself is quite nasty but maybe they can repair it.

Thing is the screen itself is in prity poor nick one of the wiper blades at some point has sratched the screen ,and its also started to delaminate around the edges.
So im really leaning to having a new one.
