Xero at Le Mans
Corvette will be amongst the runners in two weeks time
The Le Mans Endurance Series consists of five rounds. After the initial round at Le Mans the series continues through next year with rounds at Monza, Nurburgring, Silverstone and Spa-Francorchamp. All races will have a 1000km race distance. The first race also provides a number of qualifying positions to the Le Mans 24 Hour race in June. A certain number of places are awarded from each of the classes. |
Xero Competition, based near Manchester, are entering the series after running their Chevrolet Corvette in the GTO class of the 2003 British GT Championship. The team were invited to join the new Le Mans Series after the Automobile Club de l’Ouest (ACO), the organizers of the series, were impressed by the team and their performance at the Spa ‘1000k’ race at the end of August this year.
The team are 1 of only 7 UK entries from the 20 teams in their class consisting of teams from Europe, Japan and America.
The Xero Competition Corvette’s basic chassis was built by Pratt and Miller and was used in 5 ELMS races. Since being acquired by Xero however, the car has been much updated by the team.
Regular drivers Peter Le Bas, from Ireland, and Ricky Cole, from Southampton, will be joined by Paula Cook, from South Yorkshire for the Le Mans Series. Paula also drove with them at the Spa 1000k in the British GT Championship whilst she was also competing in the 2003 SEAT Cupra Championship.
The XERO Competition Corvette will race in the LM GT class at all the Le Mans Endurance Series races in 2004 as well as the November races.
