Anyone know where to get locking wheel nut removed? P'mouth
Discussion
Whilst attempting to fit my performance friction pads on my massive brembo stoppers today I seem to have slightly damaged the locking wheel nut key. They are a shiet design to start with and its soft metal has bent as my girlfriend tried to heave it undone. Thats how rubbish they are.
Obviously I need them removed and I live in the Portsmouth area. I was going to go into Mr Clutch in Southampton but when I pulled up outside they were smoking, and drinking weak tea out of a plastic cup and wearing what I think was a multi coloured football shirt with vulgar logos, I was duly discouraged.
Anyone know somewhere in Portsmouth? Preferably somewhere they wear a shirt and tie and dont refer to me as 'mate'.
Any assistance on this vile predicament appreciated.

My mate used a garage by Fratton rail station for a service a few weeks ago and they seemed honest and competent. Fratton Bridge Garage 023 92861731. I've only used Alan Day Honda near the massive Tescos around Port Solent and I recommend them highly. However, as you are a Scooby philistine, that's probably not much use

Yeah mate I know where you can get them done innit...
Surely you can just park it up in Pompey and someone will whip them off for you- although you're not going to get very far on breeze blocks...
In all seriousness though, pop down Halfords and get a locking wheel nut removal tool. I had the same problem on the V6 and got the socket for about a tenner and whipped them off- just be careful. Most tyre garages would not do it (even the cowboys!)

Between your chortles you tell them that 'they' are nothing to do with the chosen strip and the team they support and to stop associating themselves with other peoples acheivements and to make something of themselves?
Sorry, can help with the wheel nut issue.

The football kit stuff is just a uniform for the thick. Guess they are hoping someone who supports the same team will stick their thumb up and offer some approval?
God I'm getting old, what a moaner, sorry.

As for the wheel nut issue, go to your local motor accessories shop/ tool supplier and buy a multi fit socket. Looks like this:

Laser Part No.2856
HTH
Matt,
the nut itself is circular with a recessed individual pattern. Ergo, that little tool would probably just slip round and round, and round.

try a 1/2" impact socket 1-2mm smaller than the nut you are trying to remove.
i.e if its 21mm use a 20mm socket. beat the socket onto the nut with a large hammer, and hopefully this will be tight enough to fit a brace onto and undo the nut. used this method quite a few times and always works.
cheers.
