Hi

Just want to double check my understanding if anyone owns the Panasonic HDC-SD9 or Sony TG-3... no don't worry it's not one of those "which should I buy" questions...

With either of these camcorders, or indeed any camcorder, that has an LCD screen but no separate/additional viewfinder, am I right in thinking that none of them allow you to record with the LCD closed, they all rely on it being open?

(Why you ask? I want to use it skiing, less risk to any electronics if it's closed, plus can cover in a waterproof bag cover)

I have tried the online instructions but found them a bit ambiguous.

I know if I go upmarket to the likes of the Canon HG10 or Pana HDC-SD100, that I can, but they are both getting bigger and heavier. I don't mind the lack of viewfinder, just want to see if I can use a non-viewfinder model whilst the LCD closed?

Cheers

I have the Panasonic, and yes you can record with the LCD closed. I am guessing the Sony wold be the same.

Fantastic, thanks - much appreciated.
Are you pleased with the results from it?

Anyone got the Sony?
