I am looking at some of the GTR's on here and it seems like most of them are running 550bhp+
I'm wondering if 480 will be enough or am I starting too low? For a few thousand USD I could put 600RWHP down but I would hate to make the car unatractive with a powerplant that is too over the top.
Thoughts/suggestions from those that have done a stepped HP plan VS 700bhp+ only "plan".
Thanks,
Scott

I had roughly 400bhp so that's 400bhp/ton.... Trust me if you can only afford that it's still more acceleration than most people can dream of... (and most people include allot of Fessa and Porker drivers). You don't need 550bhp its nice to have but it's not a neccesaty... You can always tune up your LS motor later, build it with a stock LS motor and drive it have some fun, then play later with the motor if you want more.... You dont need it in the real world you still get a great buss from 400, but on here there all power nuts......

Ted said 500 is more than adequate.Unfortunately I took his advice and ordered one ! Now even on dry road I get wheelspin in top gear at prety much any legal speed .I'm hoping that hot tarmac in the summer will help . I wouldn't want any less it's nice to know youv'e definately got just a little more than you need . 480 would be much the same .

I agree to a point and indeed 400ish bhp is enough most of the time!!
I have driven a supposed 400bhp GTR and to be honest i would be bored with it after a few weeks.
I have a normal car for road use but when i want to blow the cobwebs away 400bhp isnt enough, just my opinion. I know some will agree and some wont but the beauty of Ultima ownership is its a balnk canvas and its your car to make how you want it.
My advise would be to build a car that you can upgrade in the future because most of us love upgrading as much as the driving.

sCOTT tHE ls3 motor will bve the easiest thing to modify later if you want to. Take the time money and energy to do the car itself right now and come back to the motor later. Just my thought, Lee....... by the way you asked on the North American site for the contact info on other LS series owners I have one I love it E mail me and we will exchange contact info.
Cool thanks for the replies! I have had a few bikes (gsxr 1k and a triumph daytona 675) so I do know what stupid accel. at legal speeds is like. Budget is not the problem but more like a how much do I realy want to spend. I think I would enjoy the fact that with a stock LS3 I could do all the normal stuff that I would do with a stock vette/camaro but the "stock" 0-60 would be quick before I mod it. So thanks again for the info!
Thanks,
Scott
