For anyone that has been following my thread there is a major revelation.

I received my cheque this morning for £8000 plus a covering letter. Part of this letter states 'The salvage has been classified a total loss. As such you are expected to make the necessary arrangements to dispose of the vehicle or at least move it to free storage if any charges are being incurred.'

I rang them up not believing my eyes and they confirmed that they have no interest in the vehicle and for me to dispose of as I see fit.

I have a meeting tommorrow with my mechanic to have a proper look and see how much to repair. If its no more than a few grand then I may be around for SCH2009.

I'm in shock!!!!

Thats great news and what a stroke of luck. Hopefully the damage isn't too severe and you can pull it back from the brink, that's if you've still got enough of it left!! TET Mouldings do new S bonnets: http://www.b-link.co.uk/tet/tvr-s.php or there's that spares repair S1 on ebay at the moment that might be worth a look and could be a potential source for the bonnet, steering rack and perhaps other parts you might need.

Another thought about steering racks. Barkychoc put that Chim power rack in his V8S, its made me wonder whether the manual rack would fit an S V6 with a few relatively minor mods to the chassis.

Good luck

Sweet Thunder on the original thread said:
James, if the steering rack is your main issue, my RHD steering rack is surplus to requirements after the conversion to LHD. PM me if you're interested.

There is an V6 S in the NW with a V8S bonnet on it.

Fantastic news, if you can save her that would be great. Be good to see you at SCH09 with or without an S but if you could rebuild by then it's be amazing.

After consultation with the missus it turns out I really cannot afford to rebuild it, I have a £4500 visa bill plus still need £7500 for the wedding. That being the case I'm going to sell off the engine and brakes then sell the remaining as salvage myself, I prefer it going to someone that wants to rebuild it rather than use it for spares.
What would it be worth as salvage, No engine/ bonnet/ front offside shock/ steering rack/ brakes. The interior needs a refurb but the chassis is good having the outriggers all replaced and all the other panels spot on. Brand new roof and remote c/l / alarm and boot. or alternatively I could sell as is for salvage but I don't think anyone would be willing to pay 4k that i'd get for breaking it.
