My guess is probably less than 100 ZR-1's in the UK. Maybe only 50, who knows.
There is no mistaking a ZR-1, just open the hood and you will see the 16 branch plenum with '4 cam 32 valve' written on it. Anything else ain't a Z, whatever the badge says. On the centre console you will see a 'power key', only the ZR-1 has this. You'll find out what it's for when you go for a test drive.
Also very important is that the 4th & 5th letters of the VIN no. will be 'YZ', if they're not, it's not a ZR-1.
Price-wise, expect to pay between 16K and 20K, depending on mileage. Best place to go for info is www.zr-1.net, they have a guide and a checklist to buying a ZR-1, which I found invaluable.
There are about 7 or 8 ZR-1 owners already on this forum, I'm sure they would be more than willing to advise further if you are serious about buying one.
(If you believe that Life begins at 180 MPH, as we do!)

There is also a very interesting hard back book written all about the development of the 'LT5' called 'The Heart of the Beast'.
This is an interesting read for any Petrolhead and covers from the time GM concieved the idea thru consulting Lotus to testing the car in the dark of night to production.
Ive heard there is around 40-50 in the UK but there are meant to be more on mainland Europe as some were made for the German'Market'.
Now is as good a time as any to buy with the 2nd hand car market as it is, i have heard of examples going for 12-14 thousand pounds on mainland Europe.

I should be at the Fairmile tomorrow, usually there are 2 to 4 ZR1s present but I'm not one of them! I think I have also seen the Heart of the Beast book on the shelves at the bookshop at Brands Hatch circuit and you'll probably see a copy or two at the classic car show at the NEC next month.
