flash triggers
Discussion
Afternoon folks, i currently have a Canon 430 EX mk1 flash and am currently looking to purchase a second one (think the mk2 is out now - but i doubt it will make a difference.)
I would like to try my hand at car shots using off camera flash and want to get some suitable triggers to work off my 400d.
Anyone have any suggestions to where i go from here?

It depends on your budget. I went for the cheap ebay triggers option such as http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Phottix-PT-04-4-Channel-Flas... and they have worked faultlessly so far and am very pleased with them.
Above that there are various mid-range options that I don't know about and then the Pocket Wizards which have a large range and work faultlessly but are considerably more expensive. (You can do a modification to the ebay ones to increase the range to more than you would ever need but haven't tried that myself yet).

Elinchrom skyports are a nice happy medium if you don't want to spend the money on want pocket wizards. I'd avoid ebay jobbies as their pretty s
tty, but thats just my experience, probably alright if you aren't gonna use them too much and don't need the extra features.
The Skyport is cute but beware of batteries running down - the Tx takes power even when switched off so for storage I pull the battery holder out a little. The Rx is rechargeable so can expire if not used for a while. I have a £10 eBay special as a backup and it works perfectly, with the Rx taking mains power from a flash head. All it has to do is fire the first head; after that they slave together and I adjust power individually.

I have a set of the e-bay triggers that arej posted the link to. I figured they were a pretty low risk purchase as they're so cheap and mine have worked without any problems.
If you go for those make sure you get the Mk 2 version, apparently the Mk 1 had issues with certain Canon flash guns (including the 430).
The only issue I have with these triggers is the bracket on the base of the receiver sometimes slips position due to a bit of a mechanical design floor. I saw on the Flickr Strobist group discussion last week that there is yet another new version out with a different mechanical design to avoid this.
