the rotating part is 19.2 cm = 0.75 inch

If you have worked it out let us know also when it fails.

ok have learned more about these stalks, the regular GOLF3 look like the way to go,
they are a complete assembly even with the emergency blinker attached and it looks pretty much
that the 0,75 inch steering column fits easily through it. I will by one from ebay and report
back about if it fitted or not.

they look too big imo, im not trying to be negative its just the Ultima dash area is considerably smaller than the Golf's. I would look at smaller maybe older units from a smaller car..... just my thoughts. I have a friend at Audi and we are trying to do something with the TT stalks but again they maybe too big.

I want to do stalks as well im not a fan of the plastic switches they look cheeeeeeappp.

If you use Golk Mk3 stalks, the ones from lower models will be better. The GTI/VR6 etc have controls for the MFA computer on them.

The base model ones could probably be used as they don't have other switches on them. You could cut them down and then you use an alloy stalk as available from Elise parts. The functionality would remain for indicators, main beam, flash and wipers inc washer. Headlight functions are on a seperate dash mounted switch.

Lots on eBay....Ford Fiesta and/or Escort (Turbo) look quite solid and short. What would you do with the old switches/area on the dash?

yes that is a good idea, somehow i missed the part that
the golf steering wheel is bigger than that of an ultima.
but these alloy elise stalks are familiar to me and they look really good.

Imho its not the holes on the dash its the wiring.. must be a nightmare to retro-fit.. gave me a headache and i had easy access to test everything..

what do you mean with the holes ? I hope when I get the kit that there are no holes at all ?
Or are you talking about retro fitting ?

yes that is exactly what the Golf3 look to me, no cruise control no MFA just plain stalks
with all the function + the emergeny button on top of it. They are really cheap here on ebay, I buy
a set and have a close look.
I am an electronic engineer, so I hope I will find out about the wiring and fit this into the original
ultima loom
