That was one of the things that used to piss me off most about all the Gran Turismo games, the tyre life was stupidly short. Having to stop for new tyres every 4-5 laps during an endurance race is ridiculous.
F1 cars were the worst, Medium tyres only. they last 4-5 laps. regardless of circuit.Use a less powerful car. The Le Sarthe Endurances are easily winnable for full 200 A-spec points as well and the race will be less boring with the AI close behind you to keep you on your toes (well unless you're B-speccing so you'll need a more powerful car like the 88C-V).

The Mazda 787B should give better tyre life and still be fast. Depends how you're running the race as to what your choices are. If you don't specifically want to be in a group C car, then the R8s and Pescarolos will be fast and give low wear. If you're b-speccing it for the prize, just stick him in an FGT car but beware of the Mulsanne Straight bug.
The FGT car has tyre wear problems at the rear because the toe is by default set to something like -6. On those settings, if I remember, B-Spec Bob was pitting every single lap at Nurb!! Changing to -1 or 0 or 1 will make a big improvement, the rears then last a lot closer to the lifespan of the fronts.
