I fitted decat pipes on the car a couple of years ago and the old cats looked fine when I took them off - other than the insulation which is OK but not wonderful - they are sat in the garage and should probably be chucked out but before I do that are there any S's that do need them date wise? If so they may be of some use to someone (and save an expensive replacement).

When I bought my car they came in a carrier bag in the boot which I duly chucked in my wheelie bin, much to my dismay I was later told I should've weighed them in at the local scrapyard because they contain precious metals and would fetch about £50-60 !!!!!!!!!!
Cheers.....Tony..

yes

Scrap.

The stuff they put in catalysts is eye watering. Not quite to the extent of Li-ion batteries though - scrappies will be loving it when we're all forced to drive hybrids!

Straight swap with mine. I'm sure at some point a quick session in a rolling road wouldn't hurt but its not mandatory - just removing the flow restriction made a difference to the willingness to rev and carry on revving higher up the range.

Hi Kevin - as Doug says you don't have to change anything despite the gloom stories I'd heard from people as to how I'd probably need to get it all set up again -it was just fine and seems to be a bit cooler under the bonnet now those huge heat sinks are no longer there! Plenty of other people have taken the cats off with no problem as well so go for it - it does make it a bit louder though .. hehe

Hi all.

If you are looking for a good home for your cats. I have a 1993 S4c. by law i have to have cats fitted. One of my cats is blowing and I was about to investigate if i could have it welded, Therefore if any body has spare cats they would be most gratefully received.
