FAO GPL'ers. WinVROC problems

OK, everything is now set up ready for network play on the PC.

Installed WinVROC as the final stage and.............nothing.

I got the chat dialogue box up, but thats it. I cant seem to find many settings to change

I use a firewall, so do I need to change my SOCKS settings?! WTF are SOCKS?!

Help!!!!


Oh, plus when I try and open any of the help boxes all I get is windows explorer appearing in "my computer"

Have you configured it right? I think the server IP address changes now and again, you have to enter it into one of the config files. If the chat window's working, ask them what the current IP is, and where to put it.

I think you are right, its the only way I can see of sorting it out. Was trying to avoid doing that so I didnt look like a numpty!

Did you get it working? I had trouble, but then changed my chat nickname and it decided to work So when's the big race?

As soon as I'm up and running i'm game!
Tried changing my nickname.......no change.

So what am I looking for? Do I press "join" (which is unavailable at the moment) and search for the pistonheads race?

Once its working I think someone is going to have to take me through stage by stage!

Sometimes you need to go the options and re-select the folder where GPL.exe is installed. Otherwise I've got all the other options as default. You could always ask on the racesimcentral.com forums - they should be able to help you
When it is all working, you click on the '+' icon in the chat window and add a chat room called 'Pistonheads' (without a password). Then you can choose whether to use an existing server on the list or someone with a fast connection can hose a race.
