Tiptronic , 125k miles is the tiptronic of yr '99 reliable

I heard that alot of the tiptronic boxes break on high milage examples , the 1999 2.8 quattro tiptronioc I´m looking at has 120k miles , should I be looking for anything in particular to know if its in good working order , or indeed whats the failure rate like .

HIya I had a 2.8 quattro on an R plate.
Ran it to 130k with no gearbox issues
But my X plate 2001 S6 at 117k has just given up the ghost!!
