Insurance Tip (?)
Discussion
I bought a used 2006 Z4MR last week & asked my existing insurer (Swiftcover.com) to quote. It was approx £340 BUT they required fitment of a Tracker (approx £470 immediate outlay then annual subscription of £97!!). So I shopped around:
Incredibly, the best deal was from "Kwik-Fit", who offered me Norwich Union cover (Fully Comp with Protected No-Claims Bonus) for £330. The downside was that the accident Excess was £750 minimum & vandal damage Excess was £400. - BUT then they said that for an extra £37 pa I could have "Excess Insurance" of £500 - meaning the most excess I would pay in the event of a fault/no-fault accident was £250 = & in the event of vandal damage £0. Also included was a voucher for a free MOT within a 12 month period, which would save me some £44+.
I spent countless hours shopping around & thought this an exceptional deal as only in 2006/2007 I was paying £650 for a TT, then a 3.0 Z4......

I used Kwick-Fit a good few years back once. ONCE.
When the documents came through, it was TPF&T despite me asking for Fully Comp. They eventually rectified the cover and I had to pay more (cant remember how much, seem to recall it being around 30%). Amazingly, the couldnt track down the recording of the phone call where I stated I wanted fully comp.
The pain it was to sort out was, without exception, the most pain I have ever had with any retail transaction and I simply wouldnt use them again out of principle. Not one apology, not one ounce of remorse.
So, in short, check that they are providing the cover you asked for.
I'll accept that my experience would be the exception rather than the norm though.

Yes Thank You: My cover is Full Comp. You obviously had your bad experience when "A Kwik Fit Fitter was a S*****R" Things have changed mate. I still would not take any car of mine to their fitting centres, knowing full well that my £1000 alloy would be scraped on their machine by a spotty 17 year old moron.
However, their white collar workers know better & any form of insurance by Norwich Union is the best in the land. I know because having previously had a BMW claim, they deliver.....
