just wondering what the general thoughts on these are?

from what i have read on other forums etc it seems a mixed bag of opinions.

i have had one for approaching 4 years so slightly biased view from me!

i think...

they look really nice - especially in stock form
they are pretty quick - twin turbo version anyway wink
pig to work on - not the most reliable of the big jap sports cars
prices are at rock bottom - heading towards chav territory? (f'in hope not!!)

now what do you guys/gals make of them?

I really like them, however just bear in mind they can be expensive to run.

Personally I thought they were years ahead of their time looks wise. Big, meaty GT car. Will always be in the shadow of the Supra, but still a great car none the less.

I think You've pretty much got it covered there. I love em, but simply lifting the bonnet is enough to scare small children and animals so thats why I don't own one.

I got one and absolutely love it. I love it that much I am now a very active member of 300zx-club.com and am going on a Holland run with them soon.
Ive owned a couple of E30 M3's, Integrales, maserati's and a 928 but for me this thing is the whole package. OK its not got the handling of the Grale or M3's but as a whole its great. The only thing I would swop this for at the moment would a R33 or 34 GTR and theres no way i can afford that anyway.

Admittedly I`m somewhat biased but, get a good one and it is as inexpensive to run and as reliable as any similarly aged Jap machinery. I`ve recently bought a mint 50K mile Jap import for less than the price of decent holiday.I didn`t want turbo grief so mines not got any, nor is it auto like most are. Classic insurance for peanuts. Plenty of specialists and second hand parts available should you need them. All this adds up to plenty of bang for your buck if you buy wisely. OK its not the quickest thing on 4 wheels and its not exactly what you`d describe as agile but what it is, is a proper old school barge of a GT whose road presence seems to get an odd sort of respect from other drivers. The prices of these Zeds can`t go much lower. The last of them are 12 years old and good, straight, unmolested examples are, now, quite hard to find whereas, high mileage, smoky old blingers aren`t. Get a good`un, look after it, keep it original, run it for a few years and flog it (if you can bear to part with it) for at least what it cost. Go on you know you want to......

To be honest the NA isn't THAT slow.

300ZX na V's a sorted Pug 205 Mi16 over the standing quarter - this was a good few years back but I remember thinking "Hmm that's quicker than I expected!" (we were in the pug)

Hi, I think these cars are absolutely brilliant for some reason! Im only an 18 year old student and would love to own one. My ideal one would be a twin turbo manual in red!! I even sadly bought a scale model of one laugh Nice Zeds^^^

I have one and I love and hate and then love it again!

I have ended up at the Zed after a number of very loevly cars, TVR, Porker etc. But I remember when the Zed first landed on the streets it was like a sapceship had landed in its day.

Sentimental mid life crisis re-living his youth?? Yes absolutely!!

My Zed was pretty unreliable but post a rebuild and replacing items such as engine looms etc, Touch wood it starts first time now

Looking for the next interesting car...these have always been on the radar since driving one 20+ years ago, but are now nearer the top of the list.

As an ex-Impreza owner (the engine went bang), the idea of having to leave the engine running for several minutes after a good run is something I find annoying, as would my neighbours. Is this something necessary with ZX turbos? It never was with my Saab HOT Aero.

Always loved the Z32, heavily considered buying one here in Japan but after doing some research, with my very limited Japanese, it was going to be very difficult to get any potential issues fixed.

Ended up buying a 350z Nismo, which ironically has had lots of issues which I have struggled to get fixed due to my limited Japanese.
