Where to hire van/car with towbar?

I need to tow a small speedboat on two wheel trailer from South Birmingham (Redditch/Solihull) to Peterborough for a new engine to be fitted. As this is only a 3 hour job I will return the same day. Two weeks later I need a tow bar vehicle again to deliver the boat to Ramsgate as it is being shipped from there overseas. Anybody know who hires vehicles with a tow bar?

In Kent there is a company called trident trailers who do everything trailers (inc. rental) and towing vehicle rental. Might be worth trying to find an equivalent?

Van hire companies will often have a couple of vehicles with towbars. The smaller ones that is, not sixt etc.

I looked into hiring something for a long weekend to do a similar job, but in the end I bought an early 90's Volve 940 for less than it would cost to hire a suitable vehicle, and then sold it six months later for a profit! Bought for 300, sold for 430, taxed it for 6 months at 90 pounds, insurance was cheap, cant's remember how much sorry.

Obviously a bit more of a hassle!

Hello my friend, I had a similar issue a couple years ago.

Go to a branch of 3 counties hire, they have depot's all around Peterborough, Luton, MK, Birmingham etc

They have a couple of Toyota Landcruisers with tow bars that you can rent just like normal cars, they will need a couple of days to get one to your local depot for you but it was the cheapest option when i was looking.

I know this as i worked for them for a couple of months shortly after renting one.

If they give you any grief, ring the Northampton office at Sixfields and ask for bruce, he will help you.

Alternatively Rogers of Bedford used to sell & rent out Land Rover Defenders

Also SHB 4x4 also rent out landrovers, not sure if its more commercial than retail
