Under the bonet there should be a metal plate with the VIN number and a Body Code.

Note down the body code and check it against the two lists linked below:

If it's not on those try a local paint shop.

scratchchin hmmm, with sparkly bits identified? Maybe not.... but apart from the fact that my car is Moonraker Black, I don't really know much about paint colours.

I just feel chatty and this seemed as good a thread as any tongue out

(edit for typo)

your code comes up as a nissan dark green,

if your code is JEJ7B then your colour is tvr halcyon hebrides

this is weird.. the logbook says dark green, when i spoke to them about in they said it must have been a mistake and not to worry.. its defo black tho, ive had the thing to bits and there's defo no green in sight(apart from the leather in side), she's black and the metalic is very fine and can only be noticed when she's clean..
could it be a mistake or should i be spelling a rat? haha
its defo JET by the way..
thanks for the help everyone

Halcyon Hebrides was always registered as new with the DVLA as green, as if you look closely at the colour the fleck in the metallic under light is green. that will also explain why the original owner had the interior in green.

cheers ofd, so im understanding that Halcyon Hebrides looks black to the eye and under closer inspection the metalic fleck is slightly green?

if you go to your nearest paint supplier, ask them to show you a colour chip for nissan dark green code DJ2 which is what your code says it should be. i had a look and it is pretty dark.

If it has been resprayed, there is usually somewhere which has been oversprayed or somewhere where the original is left (unless S&D did it!!). Check the engine bay, inside door edges , under the front and side sills and around light surrounds.

thanks everyone for all your advice.
i had my car inside today as i was getting 2 new tyres, i had a good close look at the metalic fleck in the paint and to my relief it does look green! funny thing is as i stood back and under the fluorescent lights she actually did look a touch green! i think this solves my problem!
once again, thanks guys
