Helmet and the 'Ring'

I know I could ask this elsewhere, but I know a few Ultima's have been to the Ring before. I am planning a European tour later this year and thought it to be rude not to pay a visit to the Ring, but I don't want to carry two helmets in the car just for a half day visit. Now as it is a toll road am I right in assuming that there is no legal requirement to wear crash helmets, and if so would you???

No date fixed yet, but school summer holidays is most likely, ship the kids off to the grandparents for a week

No requirement for skid lids, and if I went in the ultima again, I wouldn't take helmets, unless was really going to push hard which is far dafter if it is a first visit, drive it as a fast road and no more, there's so much going on that you should be concentrating on, that you shouldn't be close to your limit or that of the car. Absolutely best place I have ever driven the ultima at, brilliant fun, hope I can go again this year but have my doubts. The noise police were very kind to me as they let me have my first lap with no extra silencing, despite being on the 100dB limit, but promised to return the next day with the add-on silencers I'd made, don't know if they will be that considerate all the time.

Without doubt beg, borrow, steal or get someone else to take a helmet out for you. In the space of 2 laps I saw 3 major accidents - one with head injuries. I have done loads of trackdays and a couple of races so despite having some car control, there are three or four places that will scare the S@?&t out of you even if you think you are taking it steady. The barriers are close and if you hit them you will hit them hard - unless of course you limit yourself to 40mph. Your head is also very close to very hard roll cage tubing - picture your head hitting a steel tube at 50mph - its gonna hurt!! There are also a whole load of nutters that think they are ringmeisters only too willing to take you out on the way round if you don't give them a clear track. Great circuit, great experience long way to go, ticks a box but you need 60 laps to get any real sense out of it.
If your car is fitted with a cage, and you don't wear a helmet - it's literally a no-brainer when it goes wrong...
I've also seen the result of two heads colliding with each other in a car after a gentle knock without lids - ever seen two boiled eggs with their tops caved in by a spoon?
Take lids. Wear them.

I do agree, but doing a 7 day trip with two helmets in the car does not appeal, in the past passengers normally end up with one on their lap and one between the legs, not good for 2000 plus miles!Stupid not to...
I would go without! After all, you do have a full roll cage!
