I have been reading through my collection of old magazines and found one with loads on the "new TVR S"
(Really good roadtests and comparisons)

It was said that an HPE version would come out with a Cosworth engine in it. Did that ever happen?
(Forgive me if I have the HPE bit wrong, the mag is in the loft and I cant be bothered to go and get it for reference).

In another mag there is an article and road tests on a TVR350iSX. Its a Supercharged wedge! Was this ever produced?

TVR issued a press release in October 1987 for the TVR ES(evolution)model. It goes on to say that three engines were under review, these were a 4 cyl turbocharged unit, a 3.2 v6 and a completely new 3.3 unit being developed by TVR in conjunction with a major engine manufacturer. They also built an one off S racing model, think that might have had a turbo unit in it.
The 350 SX was released by The Northern TVR Centre (Haughins) who were based in Cumbria. It was made in limited numbers and was advertised as having a 270 BHP 'sprintex' supercharged engine.

The S Turbo was featured in Sprint in the late 90's. IIRC it was a 2.0 litre supercharged engine originally aimed for the Italian market due to their tax breaks. It also accounts, I believe, for the shape of the bonnet which eventually appeared on all V8S's. It had a damn great wing and saw off pretty much everything!

I could be wrong, but I think those are two different cars. The S Turbo was a special built for racing. The supercharged V8S is something that was planed for production although I don't know if any were actually mad. The story goes that it was to be a supercharged V8 stroked down to 2 liters. I've spoken to some of the people involved in this but never found anyone who's actually seen one in a car, so I don't know whether it actually ever happened. If you believe the story, this is why the V8S has that characteristic bonnet bulge. (I'm not so sure; there's plenty of room for a supercharger without the bonnet bulge.)

I saw one on a ramp at the factory in 1992. I was admiring it from underneath with John Reid when a drop of oil dripped off the gearbox onto my nice beige jacket. I never did send Peter the dry cleaning bill . Not sure how many cars made it into production, if any.

It has information on the Sprintex supercharger unit.
its from Japan and looking at the pics looks very small and very easy to add on.
Wonder if they are still available?

There were two Supercharged TVR's in the late 80's The 350sx was a conversion by Haughins the Northern TVR Centre. They made 11 (2 were 400's) 9 survive as far as I know - I've owned one since 1989 when I bought it new! The V8S was a linered down to 2 litres car with a Sprintex and, as has been said, it crept in under an Italian tax threshold. Don't get confused with a British supercharged S which I have seen and is really wild.
Sprintex superchargers only ever went to Japan on holiday. They were made by Fleming Thermodynamics in Glasgow and are, as far as I am aware, no longer available.

If you want to supercharge a TVR (or anything else for that matter) talk to the guru - Dennis Priddle of Yeovil. If he doesn't know it it isn't worth knowing!
