Good news for all you who want to see more mobile chicanes in Formula One: Alex Yoong reckons he could be back in the sport next season.

In an uninspiring 2002, Yoong’s performances (or should that be ‘non-performances’?) were a source of wonder and delight to many. The Malaysian, a pay driver for Minardi, proved to be remarkably slow and failed to qualify for three races.

However, he could be back.

“There is an offer to race, and I am hopeful that something might come out of it but it will require sponsorship and there are lots of drivers out there with cash, so we shall have to wait and see,” Alex told his official website.

“F1 is tough in that second chances are hard to come by, but if given a second chance I think I would surprise a few people.”

But when are they going to tell him the "drive" is as chauffeur for Sid Watkins in the AMG Estate doctors car.

This is one driver that certainly has shown no talent to be allowed a second chance in F1...he couldn't even make it in America.

I heard the Jordan / Jaguar rumours too...but dismissed them as part of the silly season

The only good thing i can see about this is the money he brings will keep a decent young (no pun intended) driver in F1
