Clever photo joining, world domination thing?

[Golfman]

I remember seeing on the photo forum around a year ago a link to lecture showing a new technology for joining photos together, which could end up creating a visual map of the world etc. Similar to the way aerial photos must be joined to together via software for Google earth etc.

Does anyone remember this discussion, if so I would appreciate the link again, thanks!

Pretty sure that would be Microsofts photosynth, developed in conjunction with a US university.
