Heard a Tuscan spun near or on j13 on the m1 this morning. Heard it was a bit of a mess... Here's hoping the driver is ok ...

Be careful out there peeps, been a few accidents this month already

Not a good day. frown

Was bloody icy today. I nearly went over - fortunately I was walking the dog and not in the TVR.

Hmmm, they must salt the roads like there's no tomorrow there as the only snow/ice I encountered today was on pavements and a very quiet street in a small business estate (my destination). To be sure I do tend to drive off in second gear when I have to turn from traffic lights et al, in these conditions...

I must say at the moment the Cerb is tucked up in the garage on trickle charge.. If you don't have to make a journey in the TVR best not to..

I nearly came off my push bike the other day on the cycle to work back end and then front end went on a slippy corner.. managed to correct it though..

Ah, I don't have that option sadly... no power in the underground parking here. Better to keep the car exercised sort of regularly.

I do find a properly set up car helps a lot in these circumstances. Plus the understanding that one needs to drasitcally adapt their driving... Two or three years ago around this time I was in the UK for business in my MINI and the conditions were pretty similar. At some point a Tuscan was screaming up next to me in the merging lane... hmm, I hardly get past 2K rpm in the Tiv now...

I was suppose to go to Autosport this morning in the Tuscan, it would have been a nice 3 hour drive, I looked out the window and my gut feeling told me not to get in the car today, so left the car in the garage and went back to sleep - happy days.

900T, good idea about pulling away in second gear in these icy conditions.

Car has recently had Gaz shocks and the geo done so it handles beautifully..I also have a Micra 1 Litre and a pushbike so I am lucky enough to have choices when it is icy or raining sideways.. I do however always remember my only accident in 15 years of driving in 2002 when I had a low speed impact in my Civic Type R into a lamppost on the ice I must have only been doing 12 mph turned the wheel left and the car went straight on mounted the curb and hit a lamppost.. You tend to be a bit more cautious after something like that..

The long throttle travel and relatively docile nature of the Speed Six and AJP below 4k do make them easier to drive in bad conditions than Chim's or Griff's; my old 5 Litre Chim would spin the wheels from 2.5k if you floored it in anything but dry conditions..

Hmmm, my engine builder must have done a sterling job on my 430 then - as I said on another thread, if it were any more well-behaved it would wear a fking halo. Very, very docile and driveable - but then the 500 does have the reputation of being a bit lairy compared to the 400-450, anyway.

There is a big difference in a 500 over a 400-450.The torque in 5th is very noticable in pulling away.
