I am making my first visit to the Shenington Kart circuit near Banbury in a few days time.

I rent the Kart from an excellent firm and go with a mate of mine who is an experienced Karter. I am not, of course...and spin regularly and generally look the fool and so long as I don't inconvenience anyone else alls well.

To further the ambition of not inconveniencing anyone else I'd love a chance to see the a circuit guide for the track - as their website doesn't seem to have anything on it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction or e-mail me anything useful? I don't Kart enough that its worth buying the whole Karting Circuit Guide....

Had a quick look at the uk karting site, but there's nothing on there, followed the link to Shenington's site, there are some useful links at the bottom of there page, dreadful design doesn't help, direct link to circuit plan is :

Thanks, Phil. At least I now have a chance of working out where the line should be - even if I will have trouble sticking to it .

Congratulations on you season's racing by the way.

Oh for the budget/time/talent.

havent raced at shennington for ages, last time in a hailstorm, on slicks, in a prokart, but for what its worth!...........
a quick blast from the start into the first left hander, track narrows so be careful, hairpin right is tight and slow, a good place to make up places at the start as everyone will bunch up so a slightly slower start can be advantageous as you will have more speed on the entry and the exit of the hairpin. when racing its a good place to be somewhat late on the brakes!! but there is no run off. dont run wide on the exit either as i recall its bumpy on the edge of the ciruit/kerbs/grass!

almost straight into the left hander which is flat, a long straight, usually able to out brake at the hairpin right due to people scrubbing off more speed than necessary, if its dry there should be a lot of grip. i think the hairpin is a little tight but opens up quickly, so you can run wide and get the power on early.

now, the chicane is a . in the wet, its very slow, the kerbs were quite high and if i recall correctly its slightly off camber. in the dry its just a question of taking it faster and faster until you are conmfortable with the speed.... hangar straight and the right hander are flat but be careful as the next right hander is tight and you are carrying an awful lot of speed at this point. its easy to lock up and spin 180 degrees or brake to early and have people come up the inside. I used to take a late apex which set you up a bit better for the next corner which is a left onto the start/finish straight.

for info the Formula TKM lap record is 45.93
cant remember what we were doing but i'm not sure if i want to..... hope that helps.....
