I've been planning on getting my sunflowers refurbished for a while and I'm now getting close to needing new tyres so was thinking that a set of BBS Le Mans or replicas might be in order instead.

I'd be interested if anyone has experiences of running these wheels on a lowered M3 as I'd be concerned about them rubbing given that I've got coilovers fitted. I'd also be interested in any experiences on how they affect the drive; I knew the M3 was a good car but I've actually been surprised at how well mine handles and if 18" wheels would jeopardise this then I'll be sticking with the sunflowers.

The BBS LM reps you mention are very heavy and will affect the ride/handling. Having said that, the sunflowers are also heavy but not as heavy as the reps wobble

It's a bugger that the puka LM's wont fit the E36. I enquired and was bitterly disapointed. Having said that, BBS do make some tasty puka wheels that will fit the E36, so maybe worth a try instead?

IMO you cannae beat the sunflowers though but I guess winter has taken its toll on them?

Yes, they are looking a bit the worse for wear and have been planning on getting them sorted but really like the look of the BBS LMs, I hadn't realised that they didn't fit though, doh!

The Michelins are fine across most of the tread but have gone on the inside edge because of the toe out stance so was just thinking through my options. Maybe I'll try a set of F1 asymmetricrics and a refurb then after all :scratcgchin:

Well I think that would be my preference. Have you asked on bwmowner.com?

I did have a quick search on there and it seemed as though some were running a similar setup without problems, so I suspect they would be ok with regards to rubbing, but maybe not so clever on the handling front, which would be my main concern.

If it were me, I'd get in touch with "trackm3" over on bmwowner.com, and ask him for a set of ATS wheels.

They're lightweight, not bad looking, and not expensive.

Cheers Dan, they could be an option.

Spotted some LM replicas on there too.

The idea of reduced unsprung weight appeals to me, so much so I may get a set.

The reps are great if you spend your time at Ace Cafe chillin' with 'da boyeeez, but for the purpose of actually driving, I think you should look elsewhere. The one complaint of bmwowner.com is that it does contain it's fair share of the former.

Sounds like a plan.

Not a fan of replica parts of any kind, particularly if they harm the handling of the car...
