LS7 oil cooler take off
Discussion

I'm based in West Sussex and building an RCR GT40 with Chevy LS7, Kinsler stack EFI and Quaife ZF-Q transaxle.
I want to fit an oil cooler to the LS7 via a thermostat which precludes using the dry sump system as a take off point. I found a take off from MIH (TVC 15) which fits on the (removed) blank plate on oil filter mount which looks ideal and they claim will do the job. However what appears an almost identical product from the USA by Lingenfelter claims not to work with the LS7 (it will work with any other LS)
Anyone have any practical experience of this?
(I have also posted this in the enfine forum)
Many thanks
John

im slightly confused, do you want to put an oil line in and out of the block via a oil cooler with a thermostat??
Thanks for the replies.
I googled in on a solution, the MIH TVC15 which mounts on the side of the oil cooler and have found some pics of this fitted to an LS7 which confirms that it works! I wanted to feed the oil cooler via a thermostat to prevent cool oil from being cooled further and allows some recerculation directly back to the engine thus giving faster warm up and then fully opens at higher temps (which TVC15 allows the fitting of) I think it is possible to fit a thermo into part of the dry sump reservoir oil cooler take off system but it looks more complex since at no time can it interfere with the main flow - not sure avbout that however.
Does this clarify the thermostat for you? (Mocal make them amongst others)
