Choices, HELP!!
Discussion
Right boys and girls, need some advice if you can help. Gonna swap the Cerb in for a new motor in Jan 04 and am more or less 100% sure bout buying my dream brand spanking new Red Rose Cerb with all the trimmings, Close Ratio box, Nitrons etc, a monster! But.....there's options and some of you ain't gonna like them
GT2, second hand obviously.
Diablo, same as above.
T440, new but, HOW LONG A WAIT??!!!
I know people with a GT2 and a Diablo so can get advice on running costs etc.. but do I stick with the Cerb?? (Y am I saying this
) and trust me it will look the bo
cks and probably go quicker than the other 2 options
I have no doubt the T440 will be a sorted motor and if there wasn't such a wait, then :verytemptedtoswapsides: Am also worried about what the hit's gonna be in the first 6-12 months, I wonder what the dealer's are pricing the hit to be?? It could be the cost of a new big spec Cerbera in 12 months!!
Seeing this is a TVR forum (hence the reassurance to stay with TVR peeps) the consensus is gonna be stick with TVR but hey, the other two are the bo
cks also.

The GT2 I've seen was the nuts and it sounded and looked amazing. I thought it was excellent value for money even though it was LHD but it's a Porsche
but IMHO the only 996 to have.
Well the Diablo is without a doubt an awesome motor. I really want one of these as much as an RR Cerbera but I'm put off mainly by the high insurance costs. They are much much higher than a Cerbera and probably the same running costs, I think!
I wonder how insurance fairs with the T440??

Simple, put an order in for a T440R, buy a GT2 - then sell it when the T440R is ready?? The GT2 shouldnt lose too much money in that time if you buy sensibly.
You can thank me by giving me a few passenger rides in each.
Edited, re-read - get a 4.5RR **second hand** until the T440R is ready.

Trying to make me feel guilty then YP??, Little T would look out of place in another marque though
Speaking to Castles this week so gonna find out the wait and more importantly the final cost on a 440. I just love the look of the Cerbera though and IMHO the best looking TVR available.
Would there be much noticeable performance difference between a 440 and an RR Cerb with all the trimmings?? Haven't a clue about performance enhancements for the 440 though, as if you needed any!!

Too many choices!
Well, the Diablo is THE DADDY!, but then again, speccing your very own TVR from scratch, then going to the factory to see your very own car being build is a very special experience too.
If I had to choose between those 3, I'd go for a Cerbie now, plus place an order for a new T440. Trade the Cerbie in for the T440 when it arrives in a year or two, then run that for a while.
Then go for a Diablo
Have you considered anything red with a horse on the bonnet?

Cheers Ed, but if I do that then I might as well keep my Cerb til the 440 is ready, that way I won't be taking the hit on my current one and an even bigger hit on the new Cerb when time to swap over. I don't think I could wait nearly 2 years for a 440! and doubt anyone's gonna sell their's in that time either
, could hope for someone not to go through with their order though

Come on though - surely I'm not the only one who would consider a Ferrari if I had the money?
That's not to say I'd buy one over a TVR, but it would certainly be up there near the top of the list.
Still - that's not going to happen, especially now Mel's bought an S3! So I think you should keep quiet Podie!
T,
Here's my tuppence...
1) PLace an order for a T440...
2) Get on the
to Tim Lamont at ACT, and give it the
and say "I want my Cerbie to go faster, how much of my hard earned do I need to part with for some serious pie?"...
3) Thank your mate Podie for such a great idea by buying him a beer on Thursday night.

If you are looking at cars in the £70,000 bracket, I can't imagine that depreciation is too much of an issue for you. based on that assumption, plus the fact that you already own a TVR, I would suggest a T440. Customer cars are coming out now, and I had a good look at Harrogate HC's first customer car at the weekend. It is stunning to look at, with easily as much road presence as any other exotica, and the finish is simply superb. They have really used it to showcase just what TVR can do in terms of finish, and I doubt that any other car will have the alloy switchgear, leather etc. finished to any better standard. I have no idea on waiting times, but the personal service, infinitely variable specification, and sheer experience must surely make the T440 the one to go for?
BTW - a lovely dilemma for you, you lucky man!

Give TVR a ring, swap them 4k for a red rose upgrade - THEN call Joospeed about upgrades - suspension/ brakes/ power. I reckon you'll still have change from 7k for that! (assuming you'll be after top notch stuff, nitrons/ ap 6pots). Then send it to Daventry to be set up by Gugeliemi Motorsport et voila - 4.5 Red Rose monster, should be like a new car and hopefully make the wait for the T440R more barable.
Of all the Lemans cars the T440R is the closest road car to the racer so to speak. A GT3RS looks nothing like/ performs/sounds nothing like the lemans car - the T440R is basically the lemans car with aircon/ leather/ cd player/ less roll cage etc etc.
Having spoken to Peter Wheeler at Le Mans he was very happy that the race cars spec/ build wasnt far off the production spec/build...
